His second enlistment was on March 21, 1872, at St. Louis by Lt. Peter Vroom. He listed his previous occupation as a clerk. He was discharged on March 21, 1877, at Fort Lincoln, Dakota, upon expiration of service, as a sergeant of very good character. He had grey eyes, fair hair, fair complexion, and was 5’ 9 ½” tall. He is listed as Olans H. Northeg in the Register of Enlistments and as Olans Northeg on his headstone and as Alans Nathey in internment records. He is also listed elsewhere as Orland H. Northey and Orlans Northeg. Northeg was working as a teamster for the QM Dept when he committed suicide on November 5, 1882.
