He was employed as a civilian packer by the 7th Cavalry Quartermaster for service during the 1876 Sioux Campaign. He was hired by Lt. Eugene Gibbs, 6th Infantry, in St. Paul.  He was transferred to Lt. Henry Nowlan at Fort Lincoln with pay of $50.00. He was discharged at the end of the campaign and received payment of $138.33 for the period of July 1 – September 23 and $100.00 for the period May 1 – June 30, 1876. He is listed elsewhere as Moses Flink.
